This album owes a musical debt to: Sam Amidon, Teitur, Nico Muhly, Anathallo, and (inveitably) Owen Pallett.
“Tandava/Lasya” features text inspired by Owen Pallett’s castoff Heartland lyrics, “Clementine” references songs of the same title by both The Decemberists and Elliott Smith, “The Angel of Death” was inspired by Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses, “Psyche’s Sister” by C.S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces, and almost everything was in some way inspired by the writing found at the blog Said the Gramophone.
